We work at the interface of academia and industry to combine the best of both worlds

What We Do

BioMed X Institute – an exciting new collaboration model to tackle the unmet needs in biomedical research & development.

BioMed X is an independent research institute located at the campus environment of the University of Heidelberg in Southern Germany. We operate at the interface between academia and industry and perform biomedical preclinical research projects in the fields of biomedicine, molecular biology, cell biology and diagnostics.
All our research projects are sponsored by renowned partners and conducted by early-career scientists recruited from all over the world. The link of active global crowdsourcing of the best research talents with local incubation enables the combination of the best of both worlds, academia and industry.
We stand for free, creative and curiosity-driven research with a solid validation of results, timelines and deliverables.
We serve a large purpose in advancing translational medicine by leveraging synergies and fostering cross-pollination in biomedical preclinical research.
