BioMed X and its strategic partner AION Labs recently held a webinar to give interested candidates for AION Labs’ third call for application insights on how to form a new startup in the field of AI, focusing on the creation of an AI algorithm to make an existing antibody a better drug while reducing design iterations, optimizing cycle times and lowering attrition rates. AION Labs’ CEO Mati Gill and CTO Yair Benita, Yin He from Amazon Web Services (AWS) and BioMed X Managing Director Christian Tidona introduced in their topics and answered all questions.

Student Assistant (HiWi) Position (all genders)

For our research team TMI (Translocation of Complex Macromolecules Across the Intestinal Epithelial Barrier), we are looking for a part-time employee to assist the team in daily work in protein expression/purification and cell culture. Hands-on experience in affinity chromatography and maintaining cultured cells (transfection, transduction) is crucial. The ideal candidate(s) would be an MSc student in cell biology, biochemistry, or a related field with good work organization skills and excellent communication skills in English.

How to apply for a new research project?

New research projects start with a call for application that is published on our website and will be sent via email to candidates who have registered at the BioMed X Career Space. Interested candidates are invited to enter information about their previous work and submit an original project proposal addressing the topic of the call. After a first evaluation round, selected applicants are invited to a 5-day innovation boot camp. The invitation includes full coverage of travel expenses, accommodation, sightseeing, and food for the entire workshop.
During the innovation boot camp, all candidates work in interdisciplinary teams under the guidance of experienced mentors on their project proposals. On the final day, all ideas and results are presented in front of a distinguished jury including the senior management of the sponsoring pharma partner of BioMed X.
